Hyper pigmentation is one of the causes for dark spots. When the skin is exposed to harsh weather conditions or pollution, it may create dark spots on your face and other parts of the body that remain exposed to the outside environment conditions. In other cases, age can also be a reason for this, as the formation of melanin in skin decreases with increasing age. Acne also forms a reason for dark spots on the skin. However, it doesn’t happen every time. Most of the time acne subsides without leaving a mark on the skin. In other cases, when the acne is touched frequently with hand, it may make it even more infected and then leave a mark when it heals.
Sometimes you may also get dark spots on your legs. This is a type of skin problem. This happens to both fair skinned or dark skinned person who have crossed 40 years of age. Thus, brown spots on legs are not actually dark spots, but signs of ageing. As you grow up, your body starts producing more melanin, which is a pigment responsible for the darkness of the skin. Sun spots can also be a reason for dark spots on your legs. Below are discussed some home remedies for dark spots.
There are some simple home remedies that you can use for remedying dark spots. Grate an onion and squeeze out the juice through a cheesecloth. Now add about two teaspoons of vinegar into the onion juice. Dip a cotton wad and apply the liquid on the spots on your face that have been affected. Apply this liquid twice a day until you see some results.
Another method is to boil 1/3 cup of chick peas until they get soft. After that, mash them up with some water. Add water to the extent that it becomes a paste of chick peas and water. Apply this paste on the brown spots and leave it till it dries. After it gets dried up, you can wash it with lukewarm water. Repeat this daily and you will see a change in the appearance of your face, as the dark spots will get lightened. Vitamin E is a good supplement that you can have to remove dark spots on your face. You can either have it in the form of pills or apply some vitamin E enriched cream on your face. Applying coconut oil or castor oil on your face can also help you to lessen the effect of acne.
Dark spots can also be caused by the sun rays in people who often need to get out in the sun. As an effect of the sun, dark spots may appear on the areas that are continuously exposed to sun’s UV rays. Applying a sunscreen lotion on your face before you get out in the sun can be of great help to protect yourself from the harmful sun rays. Regular use of sun screen cream will keep your skin safe from other effects of UV rays. However, it is necessary that you use a sun screen lotion which is of minimum SPF 15 grade and it should be applied to all the exposed parts of the body, 20 minutes before you go out of the house.
Another remedy for dark spots is to apply curd on all the exposed parts of the body which have dark spots. This will help to lighten the spots. It will also help to soften your skin. You can even make a paste with onions and lemon and use it the same way as discussed above. Regular intake of licorice can also be helpful, as it helps to lighten the dark spots on your body. Use creams and moisturizers that use soy, as soy is believed to repair sun damage to the skin. You can also use a paste of honey, lemon juice, and curd to lighten the dark spots. Apply it on your face and let it dry up. After it dries up, wash it off with a wad of cotton dipped in cold water.
