Holistic Treatment for Acne
The major purpose of acne treatment is to prevent scarring, diminishing pimples, and reducing the stress caused due to this. Given below are some treatments used to cure acnes.
Medications: In the first method, topical medication is used by directly applying the medicine to the skin. These medicines can be in various forms such as gels, lotions, cream, pads, or soaps. Benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, antibiotics, and Acne Getaway 101E are some of these medicines. In the second method, oral antibiotics are used. These oral medicines may be prescribed alone or along with topical medicines according to the state of the disease. Some severe forms of acnes that cannot be treated by normal topical treatment can be cured by oral retinoid called isotretinoin.
Surgery: If the acnes are too severe and cannot be cured by normal topical and oral antibiotics, they need to be treated with surgical procedures. Dermatologists perform skin resurfacing, chemical peeling, scar excisions, punch grafting, etc., for such patients. Skin resurfacing is a process which uses rapidly rotating brush to remove acne scars or pits. In chemical peeling a chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to blister and peel off. Scar excision is a technique in which the scar is removed and the surrounding healthy skin is joined together. Punch grafting is a method in which the surgeon punches a hole in the skin and removes the scar. The hole created by this process is corrected by replacing it with a small plug of the new skin.
Nutrition and Diet: People believe, according to their experience, that certain types of food and drinks make their acne symptoms worse. However, a scientific link between acne formation and diet of a person has not yet been found out. Still, according to experiences of the people, it is suggested that in conditions of acne, you should avoid drinks and food that are believed to harm you and increase the symptoms. Research has proved that the mineral zinc can be used to cure inflammatory acne. People who take zinc gluconate daily for roughly two months showed reduction in the number of inflammatory acnes.
Herbs: Some of the herbs have the property to reduce inflammatory acnes. These include German chamomile, witch hazel, licorice root, flaxseed and flaxseed oil, tea tree oil, etc.
Acupuncture: There are no proven studies about the effect of acupuncture to acne, but still it is believed that auricular (acupuncture to ears) and electro acupuncture therapies may reduce acne symptoms.
Homeopathy: In homeopathic treatment, remedy is prescribed to the patient according to their physical, emotional, and intellectual makeup. Belladonna, calendula, hepar sulphur, kali bromatum, and silicea are some of the homeopathic treatments for acne patients.
Ayurveda: An ayurvedic preparation named as sundar vati can be used to cure inflammatory and non-inflamatory acne in human beings. This preparation includes ginger, holarrhena antidysenterica, and embelia ribes.
